Policy Administration System for an Insurance Broker
Project Overview
Policy Administration System for an Insurance Broker in Germany
Our client, a small insurance broker based in Frankfurt, required a custom backend system to manage insurance policies with vehicle-specific details, alongside other essential back-office operations
Challenge
The client was launching a new business and needed a comprehensive backend software solution to handle: Selling vehicle insurance policies; Warehousing and inventory management; Financial accounting and invoicing; Integration with partners
C#.Net 4.5, MVC, jQuery, REST, MSSQL, Windows Server
Process
Requirements Gathering:
The client communicated business requirements to the Scandiantech team as needed. Our technical lead participated in stakeholder meetings to ensure a thorough understanding of the requirements
Technical Design:
The system followed an n-tier architecture. The user interface and backend were built using .NET MVC, incorporating HTML5, CSS3, and jQuery. Data was stored in MSSQL, and REST APIs were developed for integration with third-party services. Windows services were implemented for daily maintenance tasks. Key features included: Vehicle Insurance Policy Module: To create, manage, and track policies; Policy Printouts Warehouse: For storing physical policy printouts; Invoicing Module: To handle financial transactions and generate invoices; Delivery Management: To oversee the distribution of physical printouts; User Management: To control access and roles within the system; B2BIntegration: to exchange policy data with GDV and insurance companies.
Development and Testing:
Development tasks were tracked in Redmine for streamlined project management. The codebase was covered with unit tests and underwent rigorous performance testing to ensure reliability and scalability
Delivery and Deployment:
Software was deployed iteratively to production servers configured by Scandiantech specialists (Windows Server 2012 in Hosteurope hosting platform). Regular client acceptance testing ensured alignment with business goals
Results
A minimum viable product (MVP) was deployed to production within six months (it includes policy admin module, user management, invoicing and warehouse modules)
Over the next three years, the system evolved with continuous feature enhancements to support the client’s growing business
Scandiantech’s solution allowed the client to launch their business effectively and operate without significant delays, providing a robust foundation for future growth
